FSS SD

The precision surface grinder with a vertical grinding spindle and a large-diameter segmented grinding wheel for exceptionally high material removal rates in a short time. All linear guides in the FSS SD series are based on ground and scraped V-shaped flat ways with a TURCITE-B® coating for optimal damping. Designed for cost-effective use with large workpieces under flexible workshop conditions, this model, featuring an electromechanical roller-ring screw drive, offers high table speeds of up to 20,000 mm/min with a grinding area of up to 3,000 x 400 mm.

Hardware

Sturdy Base Structure: The machine bed, featuring a proven cast-iron design, incorporates a complex ribbed structure—for maximum rigidity and optimal damping properties.

Precision guideways: All linear guideways are designed as V-shaped flat slideways. The ground and hand-scraped cast iron surface, combined with a TURCITE-B® coating, ensures excellent damping.

Rolling-ring screw drive: The electromechanical table drive uses a rolling-ring screw drive as the transmission element. This drive enables flexible table speeds ranging from 2 to 20,000 mm/min.

Secure Full-Enclosure Design: Protects operators and the environment and ensures the highest air quality in the facility. Since the standard enclosed design allows for the safe use of maximum machining parameters, you benefit directly from faster processes.

Automatic Central Lubrication: A fully automatic recirculating lubrication system continuously supplies the guideways and moving elements of all axes with lubricating oil, ensuring low-maintenance operation.

Flexible Satellite Handwheel: During setup, the machine can be moved comfortably and with precision using an electric handwheel on the control satellite.

Software

Proprietary G+H software: The dialog-driven user interface is characterized by its ease of use and clear structure—perfect for flexible workshop conditions or rotating operators. Data entry is extremely straightforward via direct dialogue, with geometric data able to be entered numerically or using the time-saving teach-in method.

Precise axis adjustment: To ensure maximum process reliability, the grinding adjustment can be performed either fully automatically as part of the process or, for manual setup and adjustment tasks, via a highly responsive electric handwheel.
